Face painters, whether you are just starting out or a seasoned professional you will always be on the look out for inspiration for you next face painting design. I often get asked “where do you get your inspiration for your designs?”
This is something i have never found difficult, there are ideas for new designs every where you look, you just need to tune your mind to be thinking in face painting mode! For instance you may of bought something recently and failed to notice the fantastic pattern or shape in the background that you could use in a cheek or even full face design.
Here is a list of some of my favorite places to get inspiration for new face painting designs:
Other Face Painters
Children’s Books/Coloring Books
Magazines
Newspapers
Packaging
Comics
Adverts
Books from the Library
I also like to have a brain storming session from time to time. Have a think about the things you like and also ask your kids, friends and family members. I really like animals so i am forever in the national geographic magazines and getting ideas from them. Most of the time I will see something I like and combine it with another design I already do- just expand it if you like.
I hope this has given you some ideas for your new designs, remember Face Painting is fun and is a way of expressing yourself so don’t let face painters block get you down. Keep practicing and the better you get the more ideas that will come to you and you will see in every day life.
